Professor Steve Hayward
Director, Journalism Institute
Colorado College
A confessed Block Plan enthusiast and founding member of IBILTA (the International Block and Intensive Learning and Teaching Association), he co-directed a documentary feature film about the Block Plan’s past and present and produced a podcast series about the history of its founding.
Steven Hayward has published four books of fiction, and is also Editor-At-Large of Springs Magazine and the Colorado College Journalism Institute Director. The creator of the Colorado Springs Gazette’s Colorado Cold Case Podcast, he was the writer, host, and executive producer of the show’s first two seasons.
Professor Andrew Smallridge

Prior to attaining the role in the First Year College, Professor Smallridge held numerous positions at Victoria University including those of Director, Teaching and Learning (Course Governance), College of Engineering and Science (2015-2017), Associate Professor, College of Engineering and Science (2012-2015), Associate Head, School of Engineering and Science (2009-2012), Associate Professor, Departments of Chemistry and Biology, School of Life Sciences and Technology, School of Engineering and Science (1999-2009) and Senior Lecturer, Department of Chemistry and Biology (1995-1999).
Dr Ellen Buck
Director of Learning and Teaching
University of Suffolk
Dr Ellen Buck is Director of Learning and Teaching at the University of Suffolk. As Director of Learning and Teaching, Ellen is a member of our University’s Senior Leadership Team and has a strategic role in the enhancement of learning, teaching and assessment across the institution. She also has responsibility for the University’s Library and Learning Services provision and the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching.
Ellen is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is a member of the AdvanceHE Strategic Advisory Group for Teaching and Learning.
